Our research goal is to find ways to create better games, and create games to make us better.

  • We are focusing on game analytics and games user research, so that we may learn from games, players and also to help create better gaming experiences. This includes influencer detection, player network analysis, and visual game analytics.
  • We are designing and developing virtual and engaging experiences, which focus not only on entertainment but also on experiences and games with a purpose. This includes virtual reality learning experiences, playful educational applications, and games for health.
  • We want to support and work closely with the games industry. We organize game-related courses, workshops, game jams, and game development related events and conferences.

Our research group is led by Ass.Prof. Johanna Pirker and consists of doctoral and master students and undergraduate researchers.
